As a kid, Friday the 13th felt like some sort of holiday. It was a Friday with a dash of Teen Witch magic thrown in. I’m not sure if it’s the change in seasons, the start of a weekend after an action-packed week, or a need to watch the aforementioned classic teen movie from the 80’s, but today feels a bit extra. Here’s to a bit of spark in your weekend.

While this essay was focused on the secret lives of billionaires (they work on average 13.5 hours a day), I found the data on how little space we use in our homes to be fascinating.
“The square footage of the average home almost doubled in the last half century. But in that same timeframe, the average household went from around 3.51 persons to a little under 2.4– and single person households increased more than fivefold.
Then another study found that, when home and awake, the average person spends 68% of their time in the kitchen, and the remainder is spent between the living room and bathroom. Meaning, on average, people only use around 600 square feet of space.
Extra space beyond that inevitably becomes storage, accessory, or aesthetic.” Source
It seems even after 20+ years, I am still learning about a new act of kindness or bravery from September 11, 2001. Here’s a story from Canada I heard for the first time this year about “Operation Yellow Ribbon.”
I met a friend for drinks at this gorgeous restaurant in DC, and now I want to redecorate my whole life to mirror this space.
Years ago, I read an article about how tattoos impact the body. I remember the article explaining the body viewed the tattoo as an invader and set about constantly attacking it. Dramatic! This wonderfully illustrated video captures all that science perfectly.
