A friend sent me a meme/whatever-we-call-them-now that said, “It’s crazy that we’re already ten years into 2025.” lolz
But seriously. It’s curious that January has felt like such a long month to me for so many years in a row. Normally it seems as though time flies when you are older and creeps along when you’re younger. Not January. She’s here to remind us of our younger selves, I tell ya!
However this particular January feels to you, I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. Personally, I’m finishing a Harry Potter movie marathon and working on a quilt (My first! Maybe my last!). And probably reading. And definitely making a beef & Guinness stew. What about you? What plans await you when the bell rings and brings on a glorious new weekend?

Is anxiety a first-world problem?
“Alternatively, GAD might be less prevalent and impairing in lower-income countries. A GAD diagnosis requires worries to be excessive, and this requirement may be met less often in countries where worry corresponds to realistic everyday concerns. Furthermore, other disorders have been observed to manifest more frequently through somatic than cognitive symptoms in non-Western countries,11,12 raising the possibility that GAD, which is centrally defined by a cognitive symptom (worry), may be less common in developing than developed countries. Finally, cross-cultural research on other chronic mental disorders suggests that prevalence is often lower and outcomes better in less developed countries, perhaps due to greater provision of support by family and community.” Source via Rob Henderson

There’s still so much snow on the ground outside, and temps where I am are expected to dip into single digits this weekend. No wonder I’m over here daydreaming of beautiful gardens. Here’s a list of flowering indoor plants if you’re looking for some brightness in a city apartment. And here’s a sprawling garden on the coast of Sicily if you’re looking for ideas for your yard. Regardless of your living situation, both take away a wee bit of this winter chill. (Shout out to Frida the family dog who is living my dreams in Sicily!)
The name of this candle made me laugh out loud. It is described as, “smoldering spices and warm woodsy undertones set the mood in this comforting ode to personal liberation.”
